Season ELPALAFQUEN®.
The fly fishing season in Patagonia runs from November 1st to May 1st . Exceptions can be found as in Nahuel Huapi lake where fishing is allowed during the months of May and October as well, but always from the shores and no farther than 200 mt from the mouth of rivers and steams. It is also possible to find other locations where fishing is allowed all year round such as Moreno lake and Alicura reservoir. In both cases following the catch and release modality. Due to the high levels of the rivers during the months of November and December, trouts –specially rainbows and browns- return to the lakes, offering fishermen great opportunities to enjoy a perfect day. During this time of the year there is a wide temperature range, it is usual to have very cold mornings and nights (4º C) and during the daytime, temperatures reaching up to 27º C. It seldom rains.

In the middle of summer -January and February- temperatures are really pleasant ranging between 15º C and 32º C with little rain. Days are very long and rivers offer very good conditions for wading. Ideal combination to practice fly fishing, spinning or floating trips.

The season ends by the months of March and April with temperatures ranging from 7º C to 20º C, this being the most colourful and tranquil moment of the year. The autumn sun gives the landscape a golden and mystical look. Now the lower levels on the water create more possibilities to spot the trouts, specially browns and rainbows, which now are swimming upstream to spawn. Only a couple of things are really neccesary: a simple fishing gear, an excellent guide who knows the best fishing spots and the fisherman´s desire to go after a nice trophy. At this time of the year there is not much tourism therefore long hours of fishing can be enjoyed only by the company of your guide and the majesty of Nature.
